The Roma Pass grants you free entry to the Colosseum, but it does not skip the timed-slot requirement. Italy requires all Colosseum visitors to book a specific hour and enter within that window. With the pass, you enter at your reserved time without paying at the gate. Without the pass, you pay €25 at or before your entry time. Either way, you must book the time slot in advance, especially in high season (April–October).
In peak months, slots can sell out days ahead. If you are visiting in July or August, book your time as soon as you arrive in Rome or even before you land.

How to book your slot with the Roma Pass
If you have or plan to get a Roma Pass, book your Colosseum time slot on the official Roma Capitale website (coopculture.it) or through Tiqets. You can also book it after you have bought the pass, as long as the pass is activated. The slot is separate from the pass purchase — you book the slot independently and scan your pass at the entrance.
Slots are released in batches and fill quickly in summer. If the date you want is sold out, check back in a few days or choose an alternative time. Cancellations do happen.
Colosseum + Forum + Palatine as one entry
This is important: the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill share one combined ticket and one timed-entry slot (for the Colosseum specifically). Your slot gets you into the Colosseum at that time; you then have access to the Forum and Palatine for the rest of the day once you have entered. You do not need separate slots for the Forum or Palatine. Most visitors spend 1–2 hours in the Colosseum, then move to the Forum and Palatine for another 2–4 hours, depending on pace and audioguide use.
